Hi all
We are currently evaluating Storware Backup & Recovery, because our current backup solution doesn't allow automated restores on Oracle Linux VM. Our current backup solution works fine with VMware, but due to the cost increase we are evaluating other virtualisation solutions.
Our scenario is that we have two datacenter an inhouse (main) and an external one, in a cold standby setup. The external datacenter should only be necessary if a big (natural) disaster happens
and knocks the complete hardware in the inhouse datacenter out. We have two dell data domain storages on each site which replicate the mtree (respectively the local storage unit) from
inhouse to the external site. The external site has also an independent backup server which scans for new backups on the replicated mtrees.
Because of customer requirements, we have to prove that we can switch from the inhouse to the external datacenter within 48 hours. Because of that, we do a recovery test once a year,
where we cut our link to the external datacenter and start our environment there. We have hundreds of VMs that need to be started/restored so automation is a must.
What would be the best approach with Storware Backup & Recovery for our scenario? I've only seen an active/passive cluster setup in the documentation so far, which would most likely
generate a split brain situation during the recovery test.
Thanks a lot for the answer
